What I Offer

I always suggest a free 15-minute Zoom meeting to begin with. It means I can find out what you're looking for, and you can get a sense of whether I'd be the right fit as a tutor.

You can book a free meeting now by filling in this one-minute form, or scroll down to find out more about my lessons and rates.

Types of Lessons

I teach a very broad range of English lessons. Below is a list of the things I tutor most often - but please get in touch if you have a particular request that you can't see below.

I teach on weekdays and weekends, with lessons as early as 7 and as late as 8 - all working around what suits the student.

Exam-Focused English Lessons

I most commonly teach GCSE and A Level - I've taught nearly every standard text and exam board in the UK. I also offer 7+, 8+ and 11+ English lessons.

English as a Foreign Language

Whether it's conversation classes, or intense preparation for an exam like TOEFL or IELTS, I've helped dozens of non-English speakers improve fast.

I help students prepare and feel confident - I've sat interviews at both Oxford and Cambridge! I also offer help with personal statements and ELAT tests.

Oxbridge Preparation

I also tutor drama and theatre studies, including preparation for LAMDA exams, but my availability for these kinds of lessons is very limited - please use the contact form to express interest.

You can find out more about me on the About page here.

Getting In Touch

I charge £55 per hour for one-to-one tutoring. For sessions with two students, I charge £75 per hour.

Please get in touch for information about rates and fees. You can email me on jc@venable.org.uk, or use the form above.

I can take payment by bank transfer, PayPal, cash or any method that's convenient, including international payments.

Free Lessons for Students on Free School Meals

I offer a limited number of free lessons to students in Years 10-13, who qualify for free school meals in the UK. If you're interested, please fill out the form below. When I'm overbooked, I operate a waiting list. Just use the form below to express interest.

I'm passionate about improving access to education, and I want to see more students from less-advantaged backgrounds getting in to top universities - so if you're applying for uni and would like some help, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
